Modern Day Pardoner..

I think the modern day pardoner would have to be one of those people at church events that try to sell you things. Sometimes the things they try to sell you are really weird and fake. They sometimes tell you the they have holly water when in reality its plain regular water. They try selling you little charms and things with saints you never heard of. So i think its them all they want is to make some money using god as their cover .

Riddle.

My life span is on going
Hundreds of generations can watch me grow old
Unless someone decides to cut my life short
My complexion changes threw the months
I remove my coat when ever jack comes
I'm productive and kind to who ever is in need
I can be your landlord
If a home is what you need
But always remember
That your neighbors can be a little nutty
So if you decide to stop by
Just knock on my door
And come up high

Monster???

I do believe he is a monster. He killed a lot of soldiers and innocent people. He was wrong for doing so but its not his fault he was raised that way. He did not know any better, killing people was the only way he knew how to solve problems. He did not know how to talk things out like humans do. It was natural instinct just like an animal. I believe there was a reason behind his killing sprees. He did not like the noise the king and warriors made as they partied. Maybe he just wanted a little peace. Another possibility could be that he was angry because he was not like them, people would see him and automatically judge him as a monster. Maybe he just wanted to be accepted and since they did not , he solved it by killing them. People and animals always treated him as an outcast and were out to kill him maybe he just wanted to make it stop. It did not work but he still did it.

September 11

I do not have a side to the September 11 attack. I don't know if i believe that the government had anything to do with it. I mean there is evidence, like the hole in the pentagon. That hole was not wide enough to be made by a plane. And the way the twenty dollar bill makes an image of the towers burning , when you fold it. There are other things as well, so that i am not completely convinced. If the government did have something to do with the attack, it makes me feel insecure. I don't understand how the people in the government could have killed innocent people, just so they can have an excuse to go over to another country and start war. Isn't the government supposed to protect us? I do know how ever that it was a horrible thing. And that a lot of people lost loved ones.

arguement for or against Nabokov's view of " Good Readers and Writers" and two comments

9/7/08
I agree and disagree with Nabokov and his point of view, of what a good reader and writer is. I do agree that a good reader should have imagination, memory and a dictionary. A reader without an imagination would not be able to connect with the story. A reader without a memory would not remember important details in the beginning of a story that later may help understand or explain a certain event that takes place. A good reader should also have a dictionary handy , because there's nothing worse then reading a story and coming across a word that you don't know. If you don't know the word , you don't know what the author is trying to say and wont receive the correct message. I don't necessarily agree that a good reader should have an artistic sense. I also agree that a reader should not judge a book before they attempt to read it. If they do judge a book they may miss out. Just because one person doesn't like a certain book ,it doesn't mean another person wont enjoy it.

I don't agree with Nabokov on what a good piece of literature is. He believes that all good literature should have three facets magic, story and a lesson. A story should have some magic, because without a bit of magic , the person reading it wont be able to connect her/him self with the story. The piece of literature should have a story , one that the reader will enjoy , learn something new or be taken to a new place. But I don't agree that all good literature should have a lesson. There doesn't always have to be a lesson. Sometimes readers just want to forget about there problems and lives and be taken to a completely different world. It can be a in a love story or a horror story. For example harry potter doesn't have a real lesson but people still thing its a great book. Last of all I don't agree that just because Nabokov thinks a certain piece of literature is good or bad ,that it is. Its up to the reader to decide , everyone has different opinions and different taste.
